Report February 2025
Little did I know, when I first started attending 60+ Continuing Education, what a big part of our lives it would become. Over the last ten years, the weekly meetings are eagerly awaited.
Our motto is "Companionship, Stimulation and Entertainment". I find for the weekly fee of $2, the lectures certainly provide those benefits. I have made many new friends through my involvement. Last year, I enjoyed hearing the very interesting life stories when three of our members were our guest speakers. Entertainment is provided too and I look forward each week to see what new topics I will hear about. I am amazed by the stimulation the meetings give me. I find that topics covered are frequently discussed as I converse with friends and family who don't attend.
So if you've not yet joined our meetings, I suggest you give this organisation a try. We are frequently asked if members have to attend every week. Although I try to attend each week, other things get in the way such as family events, holidays or medical appointments. Pick and choose the topics that interest you. Although some of the lecture topics didn't appeal to me, prior to attending, they have really stimulated me. Who knew leeches, Kauri dieback and halters for cows could be so interesting? To quote Forrest Gump's mother, "Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get".
We look forward to a new year of interesting speakers, meeting friends, making new ones and having our brain functions maintained.
We no longer require members to wear a mask but please do so if you wish. Please wear your name tags for both social and safety reasons. We have available on the entry tables, a small insert that can be placed at the back of your name tag, giving your contact details, in the case of a medical emergency.
Hope to see and meet you soon
